Qualifications:
Valid K-5 Michigan Teaching Certificate with endorsement in Guidance Counseling (NT) (preferred) OR a valid Michigan Social Worker license - master's degree in social work with full approval as a school social worker Enthusiastic & motivated Student centered High level communication skills Ability to build rapport with all students, families, and staff Believes in the philosophy of Every Child Every Day Experience in teaching, and counseling preferred
Responsibilities:
Deliver guidance curriculum in classrooms Work with individuals and small groups of children toward academic, social, and emotional growth Assist in developing and administering plans for behaviorally and/or academically-challenged students Assist teachers in the classroom by interacting with students who are disruptive or off task or exhibiting other emotional needs which are interfering with the student's progress in the classroom Assist students in understanding and navigating school culture Provide parents with accurate, comprehensive, and relevant information in an objective and caring manner Assist students in dealing with family crisis situations Consult with teachers, parents and staff regarding student development and the impact on learning Provide preventative and responsive services (conflict resolution, restorative justice) Collaborate with school social worker frequently Help coordinate and support all school programs Assist/lead professional development-related activities Other duties as assigned Beginning Date:
